AWARD WINNERS Juror: Jinnie May
Best in Show $250
Juror's comments: A wonderful composition and delightful palette that just makes me feel free, peaceful and happy. The reflections pull the sky color elsewhere in the composition and the yellow-orange contrasts very nicely with the brilliant blue.
Pamela Luciano, Rye Marsh, oil, 16" x 20", NFS
Grand Category—Carmel Bongiovanni: Fine Artist Memorial Award $200
Juror's comments: I love the looseness and feel of this watercolor. The values are excellent giving this lake scene a crispness that is difficult when painting a loose watercolor. The colors are clean and the composition is nicely balanced by placement of the dark shape on the right. Trees and rocks are excellently painted.
Elsa New, Long Lake, watercolor, 14" x 10", NFS
Lettie and Ralph Steinhart Memorial Award—Watercolor/Acrylic $100
Juror's comments: A single flower done well, the dark background makes the flower pop and the addition of the ladybug brings an added touch of color.
Richard William Haynes, Good Morning, opaque watercolor, 10" x 7", $1200
Best in Category—Pastel $125
Juror's comments: The values in this petite pastel are excellent. The painting gives you the feel of a cold winter day but at the same time is warm and inviting. The small tree in the front is very nicely done. The artist has mixed just the right number of verticals and horizontals to make this an entertaining composition.
Louise Woodcox, My Place Series - First Snow 2022, pastel, 5 1/2" x 5 1/2", NFS
The "Evie" Award $100
Juror's comments: Even though there is lots of detail in both the trees and the grass the painting is not overdone. The whole scene is beautifully executed and sky is so calming and serene. I love paintings like this that make you feel the atmosphere.
Laurie Harden, A Brand New Day, oil, 18" x 24", $900
Jeanne Hermann Saslow Memorial Award $100
Juror's comments:Good value contrast and a unique view make this painting standout amongst the many lighthouse paintings done over the years. You can really sense the depth and movement of the ocean.
Angela Wang, Lighthouse and Raging Waves, oil, 16" x 20", $1000
Carlee and Woody Walker Memorial Award $100
Juror's comments: This unusual sized composition adds to the height and the feel of a tall building in the city. Great color selection in just the right places add interest to an otherwise cement structure. The artist has made a very interesting work from ordinary subject matter.
Elaine Denton, Fifth and 82nd St., pastel and gouache, 12" x 5", NFS
Libby Schmidt Memorial Merit Award $50
Juror's comments: A great abstract, good composition. The touches of hot pink are placed in just the right places to cut through the verticals. This is a large painting done well.
Donna Grande, Multiple Choices, pastel, 30" x 29", $1500
Ken and Dina Labarre Memorial Merit Award $50
Juror's comments: This photo certainly caught my eye. Love the creativity of composition in this piece.
Karen Floriani, The Persistence of Vision, photography, 14" x 11", NFS
John A. Sullivan Memorial Merit Award $50
Juror's comments: The palette of light pastel colors in this abstract certainly portray a “moody mood.” Placement of the gray adds interest and depth to this large abstract. A lovely, serene feeling is invoked in this work.
Charles Palminteri, Moody Mood, acrylic, 48" x 36", $900
Geraldine Barnes Memorial Merit Award—Floral $50
Juror's comments: The artist has put an interesting twist on the head of this sunflower. The placement of the petals adds movement and the bold colors are easily associated with sunflowers.
Joan Speare, A Ray of Sunshine, oil, 24" x 30", $800
Huggett Family Merit Award $50
Juror's comments: I love the bold colors and placement of design elements in this collage. All the different patterns work very well together, making this an entertaining work of art.

Juror's comments: Nice placement of figures that draws you into the collage. Interesting scribbles and statement add to the composition.
Marcia Miele Branca, The Power of 3, mixed media, 10" x 8", NFS
